This exercise is great if you have just injured a disc or have an old disc injury that has not healed. The deep stabilising spinal muscles (especially multifidi) are traumatised with any low back injury. They even begin to waste within 24-hours! To prevent this or to re-train them from an old injury this exercise is a gem! I’ll admit it looks boring and sounds easy but if your deep stabilising muscles are not firing it will be difficult to do well. And that means you NEED to do it!
