This exercise not only strengthens the muscles that are on the back of our body (the posterior chain of the hamstrings, gluteals and paraspinals), but especially activates and strengthens the deep stabilising muscles along our spine.

These muscles are responsible for the functional congruity of our vertebra joints, which means that our spine can move with integrity and ease, and thereby be pain free.

This is a great exercise to strengthen these important spinal stabilising muscles.
