I finished the first draft of my ninth and latest book, Bhakti – Yoga of Love. It took me 9 weeks and this draft has already about 380 pages. Before that I had about a 20-year period where I knew I wanted to write this book but only slowly, unconsciously gained clarity what was to be in it. Then there was a two-year period with tons of daily study, Bhagavad Gita and dozens of its commentaries, Bhagavata Purana, Narada Bhakti Sutra, Ramanujacharya, Ramakrishna, Aurobindo, Whitehead, all with a fine comb and of course there will be hundreds of quotations. The first draft is the actual writing of a book with most content there, but it needs another 3 to 4 drafts to make the text more fluid, cut out unnecessary excursion on which the author went, and elaborate where there are jumps in trains of thought. Each draft will be faster. I will attempt to complete the second draft in 5-6 weeks, which means that the 3rd draft should be half done by the time we go on the road to teach. Then it’s anybody’s guess how much I get done, but I think it could go to print in late northern hemisphere summer or early autumn. Will keep you updated.
